About MOYA |
-
Moya came about as I was working as the Superintendent of The Great New York State Fair
Art and Photography Exhibit. During my time at the fair, I implemented the youth categories in both Fine Art
and Photography. The opening reception proved to evoke such positive reactions and overwhelming enthusiasm
from the children and their parents. More mature artists commented on the young artwork and reassured the
children of the wonders of their talent. This reinforced the necessity for children’s work to be exhibited in an
aesthetically pleasing space where public recognition is possible. This experience not only encourages future art work from these individuals, it also builds their self-esteem.
MOYA allows children to choose the medium they would like to work in. With input from the teacher or guardian,
we try to open new doors for these youths. Groups may call in advance and we will have a specific lesson set up
or they may come in and wander through the exhibit and be inspired. All lessons are planned by a certified Art Teacher
and approved by the Executive Director.
